North Shore:
Several federal and state government campsites are available in the Truckee area on the North Shore. Prosser Reservoir is run by the federal government and provides 29 sites. State run Tahoe State Recreation Area has 34 sites for vehicles up to 28 feet long. The privately owned Sandy Beach Campground has 44 hookup sites that accommodate rigs up to 40 feet long. Activities include fishing and swimming at these campgrounds.
South Lake Tahoe:
The Tahoe Valley Campground enjoys its peak season between May and September, and campers here enjoy majestic scenery with tall pines, impressive mountain vistas and sandy beaches. The campground is open year-round and provides full hookups for RV campers. There is a heated pool available during the summer season. Tennis and sports courts are provided to keep visitors active during their stay. Be aware that when snow is on the ground, water is turned off at this facility.
West Shore:
Open from May to October and operated by California Land Management, William Kent Campground offers 84 wooded sites surrounded by towering fir and pine trees. Some sites are even secluded by the shrubbery. There is a designated swimming beach and a campground host at this facility, and there are bear boxes and an officer/ranger station available. Other activities in the area include biking and hiking trails and a public marina.
South Shore:
Camp Richardson Marina provides a year-round resort with lakefront cabins, a hotel, 100 RV sites and 200 campsites. This is the closest marina to Emerald Bay. Guests can ski in the winter or take full advantage of their water sports in the summer. This resort offers a water ski school, a sailing school in addition to fishing charters and sailboat cruises.
